course.
Why discuss
Putting ideas into words and sharing those ideas with others,
is a very important part of the learning process. Composing should
not be a solitary process, and the more you are able to share your
ideas and try out your musical creations on a discerning and
sympathetic audience, the easier will be the transition to
presenting your work to a critical audience.
General Discussion
Use this discussion for dialogue about any general issues and questions
related to composing and arranging, musical theory and analysis. Remember to
keep your posts short and to the point. It is OK to throw in questions or
ideas that you haven't yet fully understood, because your questions will often
help others as well.
Composition ideas
This discussion provides an opportunity for you to try out your musical
ideas. Post a short melodic idea, or a chord progression, or a stylistic idea.
We will have a few compulsory assignments where you will be asked to post a
musical idea and discuss it with each other.
Musical
ideas should be attached to posting on this forum using MIDI files or .sib
files (Sibelius) [TECHNICAL ASPECTS OF HOW TO DO THIS ARE STILL BEING WORKED
OUT]
In the meantime, attach you files to an email to your tutor, for them to be
manually published on this site, and then post you comments and replies about
each other's work, on this forum.
